NIFT Bangalore has given the opportunity of exploring the beautiful craft of Nimmalakunta. As part of the NIFT curriculum and to gain practical knowledge in Indian crafts, we are required to do craft-based research on the “Nimmalakunta Leather Puppetry”. This craft document is all about our understanding and experience of tools, techniques and processes we achieved while talking to the artisans.

This document is our endeavor to make everyone aware of the beauty and authenticity of this craft, and to whatever extent it succeeds in doing so, we would consider it a pleasant accomplishment.

This project has helped us understand the state of handicraft and artisans and the fact that new trends in craft are a necessary factor to survive the modern market.
